A trip to Wembley!

Yes as you all know we periodically get some freebies for the big footy matches. There are two Adult tickets for the Charity Shield Match  (played on the 7th August next month) the tickets are for the Manchester United supporters section. So I suggest that any City supporters entering the competition remember this.

Answer the following question.  What team was the first team to win the first Charity Shield match?

Answers to be emailed to the Blog admin. The competition winner/s will be announced on Sunday of this week. Entry for the competition closes 5pm tomorrow. There will also be  £50 of spending money for the day. If we get enough we’ll double this to £100.

Viva!

    Dan,

You posted a while back suggesting that you and some followers of the blog were to visit Bangladesh on a fact finding exercise re GCM Resources.

Has this visit been arranged ?

Well the first Charity (actually Community Shield then) Shield match was a 1-1 draw between QPR and Manchester United

With United winning the rematch 4-0

However This competition replaced the Sheriff of London Charity Shield (arguably the first Charity Shield) which in the first two years managed to be shared between Corinthian, Sheffield United, Aston Villa and Queens Park.

There was no clear winner until 1900 when it was won by Corinthian
